Questions, questions and more questions. It’s quite simple in the first step – a phone call or an email with your wishes is all it takes. Then we call you or write an email to clarify the details.

Sometimes this already ends in an offer, but often the customer and we need one or more drawings. Only then can the customer and we properly imagine the result or clear up any ambiguities.

I still remember how my boss once came up to me and said “Saskia, you can draw so well…”. The first drawing served to show a major customer what a barrel pyramid would look like in the desired size and in their barrel store. With the words “You stack the barrels with our wooden barrel stores two or three high”, nobody (except us) can imagine anything about it! You certainly don’t either, do you?

The task sounds simple: the customer wants to make his barrel store accessible for guided tours of the company and it should look and act accordingly. The maximum height, number of litres of barrels, barrel storage and laser were fixed. But the people responsible for the project at the client’s wanted to be able to visualise it before the order was completed. So I set to work on my pencil drawings: a single barrel pyramid with a sketched human for scale, several pyramids in the future, from the side and in detail.

The sketches were the well-known icing on the cake – the marketing team involved had a tear or two in their eye and were thrilled.

But this was just a small example based on a barrel store. Every time my boss comes to me and says “I have another special task for you…” I already know that a few new sketches will be created…

As soon as the customer has given the okay and all questions have been clarified, a copy of the sketch with a detailed description and dimensions goes into production. In the case of customised barrel storage, barrels are manufactured or ordered from the production partner, the barrel storage is produced and the barrels are laser branded to the customer’s specifications. This is followed by personal and professional assembly on site.

It is similar with furniture. The copy of the sketch is sent to production with all the important data – sometimes queries arise again which are clarified with the customer. Photos are ALWAYS sent to the customer for approval before dispatch. In the case of high production numbers, samples are sometimes produced in advance and approved by the customer.
