Barrel profiling is a term we used to designate the different forms of toasting barrels on the inner side of the staves. Through this special treatment over oak wood fire, infrared heating or gas flame, the cooper prevents the taste of the wood from being transferred to the various wines and distillates. A specialised form of toasting following the instructions of an oncologist or the customers can be carried out. Essentially this change comes about through differentially applying the parameters of temperature and time.
